Note to self: Get payment first, give product afterward.

Man oh man, it's been a busy couple of weeks. I finished the commission and got $70 for it. Pretty proud about that. I've also been doing some photoshoots to try and fill up my portfolio in hopes that I can earn some money this summer in photography and earn a name for myself before I graduate Graphics.
One of the photoshoots did not go as well as planned however. The woman knew I was an amateur but put her expectations of my experience as a professional. I made the mistake of giving her 90 pictures of her nieces for free, and she was still cranky and apparently won't be writing a good testimonial.
Talk about a spoiled day.
I did get some good pictures from the shoot though, so it wasn't all in waste. I just hope that she is the only sour apple I have to deal with throughout these free shoots, otherwise I may just have to figure out someone else to deal with the customer for me.

I have several more shoots to do this year, before December ends, so here's hoping the rest will be easier to deal with. I'm a lot better at directing adults and teens better than kids anyway; Kids need more motivation than adults do. A few of the shoots are engagement shots, some couple shots, and two family portraits.
Next summer I have two weddings to shoot. I'm their only photographer though, so I'll be looking for someone to help me take pictures so that I can cover the entire wedding. I told them that since I'm doing these shoots for free, they really should hire a second photographer just to make sure everything is covered, but we'll see how that goes. I don't think they plan to.

I'd like to invest some money in umbrellas, a tripod, some lighting systems and a backdrop so that I can do these without so much need to be resourceful. We'll see how that plays out though.

Other than that, I've been trying to contact my other client to do a photo restoration for her, but it seems we've been playing phone tag the last few weeks. Hopefully I can reach her later today. I've also got a family member looking through their own photos for pictures they want restored (paid, of course) and I'm still thinking of ways to advertise my abilities past the internet, so that hopefully I can reach the older members of this community. I might get more business then.

As for personal life, things are going well. Adam and I have been doing great, he goes to Sudbury again this weekend for more training. Lucky bastard has been making enough money via military work that he hasn't had to work at his other job for a while, although he will be contacting them and making arrangements to work certain days so it doesn't conflict with his military work.
We have been watching a lot of movies recently, and although it's not going to the theater we've managed to turn the bedroom into a pretty good theater for ourselves, complete with popcorn.


I've been thinking about doing some art for myself, but I'm at a loss on what to do. I have my markers, paints, pastels, pencil crayons, pencils, tablet and camera, but I just don't know what I want to do. Perhaps I'll try a little of them all and post what I like. We'll see.
If anyone has any suggestions, that would be helpful.
